When my Hubby and I were still starting our new life together as a married couple, things were not so easy. One major expense came after the other. We got married. I had to pay off my remaining number of service years to the government that granted me a college scholarship but wasn't able to provide me the job that I have been seeking. I got pregnant. A member of Hubb'y family died. A major sickness fell on a relative. We had to finance my sister's transportation when she came to Japan to help me out for the first three months since my baby was born.
Since Hubby has just started working that time, you can also say that the pay was not yet very good considering the standard of living in Japan.
That said, you could just imagine how we would be able to make it through the month. We were really short and all our savings were depleted. I am happy though that we didn't get too desperate to subject ourselves to bad credit loans. Slowly but surely, we were able to pay off our credit card bills. And I am happy that as of this writing, our balances are now fully paid! Now, it's time to start saving!
