TCP#59: Autumn In New York

Hello Couchers! Welcome to the October 5th edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes, where we post about a movie each week. This week's theme is "Here Comes Autumn / Fall". You may post about a movie that has a fall theme or is set in the fall season, or a movie that came out in the fall / autumn season.

My pick is Autumn In New York, a 2000 romantic drama film starring Winona Ryder and Richard Gere. I really like Winona as an actress... I find her very pretty too. Gere also played his part beautifully in this film. Add to that the beautiful autumn colors of New York and you have got a really wonderful setting for an "autumn film". I do not understand though why this movie got so many negative ratings because I really liked it. There was no violence and the story is all about a playboy finding true love and about the autumn of a woman's short life towards the winter's snow and her voyage to eternity. It was emotionally entertaining for me and although the plot was predictable and the story quite unbelievable, it was able to show me in the end that in order to find true love, you have to take even the biggest sacrifices.

If you still haven't seen this movie, here's a preview:

So what's your Autumn Movie this week? Come share it with us by entering your TCP link in the linky below:

Thank you for joining us this week Couchers! Next week's theme will be Gone Retro, where we will feature movies that came out in the 80's. May you all have a great week ahead. Take care and Happy TCP!

  1. Hmm. Because, as you know, we don't technically have Fall in the PI, I'd have to think about this theme long and hard... hopefully I come up with something by tomorrow :)

I like the movie that you picked. I don't think I've seen Wynona in another film since then...

  4. I've never actually seen this movie. I hate love stories where people die (ahem, Love Story), but I'd totally watch this if only for the autumn flavor. I love the fall! :)
A fave "autumn" movie of mine (although it's not really one, it just started in the fall and ended in the spring) is You've Got Mail. I have it on my iPod. :)
