Hello Couchers! Welcome to the January 3rd edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes where we post about a movie each week. This Tuesday, we will celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit by featuring Rabbit Movies, feature films with rabbits or bunnies or hares for characters. I know that you all have a favorite Rabbit Movie to share so I hope you will join us this week to join in the fun.
My pick will have to be The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a Disney Classic released in 1977 that is inspired by A.A.Milne's whimsical stories and is the last film where the legendary Walt Disney had an involvement. Although Rabbit here is not the main character, I am picking it anyway as I always love the characters of the Hundred Acre Wood.
Rabbit is a responsible and clever rabbit. He is always practical and keeps his friends on their toes, although they sometimes raise his ire unintentionally. I always find Rabbit's character to be eccentric where his garden is concerned. He likes his garden and does whatever he can to protect it from other animals such as bugs and crows. He gets cross and grumpy when they try to steal his vegetables, especially carrots. In one episode, he even goes so far as to build a fortress around his garden, including a moat and booby traps. He also likes to take charge and come up with elaborate plans. Although his character can sometimes be antagonistic and reluctant to welcome newcomers, he learns to warm up to them in the end.
In one episode of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh he adopts a bluebird named Kessie that he rescued from a snowstorm. He also tries to avoid Pooh at Lunchtime, sometimes without success. In the first part of the movie, Pooh got stuck in the hole of Rabbit's Howse and Rabbit tried to make a decoration out of Pooh's bottom.
Here's the first of eight parts of the movie for you to enjoy:
